U.S. Ambassador Pays Homage to Norman Borlaug
September 14, 2009
New Delhi - United States Ambassador to India Timothy J. Roemer today paid homage to Norman Borlaug, the Nobel Prize and Padma Vibhushan-winning American scientist, known as the father of the Green Revolution, who died Saturday.
"Dr. Borlaug was a modest citizen-scientist whose work saved hundreds of millions of lives around the world and made him one of the 100 most influential individuals of the 20th century," stated Ambassador Roemer. "His long association with India epitomized the very best tradition of U.S.-India partnerships."
