United States promotes renewable energy in India

August 10, 2009

New Delhi - The first-ever USA Pavilion was launched at the 3rd Renewable Energy Show taking place at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi today, showcasing cutting edge American renewable energy technologies.

The United States and India are working together to strengthen both nations' renewable energy sectors and to promote cooperative clean energy projects. The bilateral strategic dialogues announced in July by External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will encourage renewable energy firms in both countries to broaden their existing partnerships and jointly develop sustainable products and systems to help ensure the future of our planet.

Carmine D'Aloisio, Minister-Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, noted that the U.S. and India already work together in all areas of renewable energy, "particularly in areas of energy efficiency and the solar sector.  U.S. firms have led the way in developing advanced technologies in areas such as solar power and India, given its resources, is well-positioned to become the leading solar energy user in the world."

The current show is open to the public and follows on the heels of a successful U.S. solar energy trade mission to India last March.  Among the 46 companies represented at the USA Pavilion, located in Hall 12A, are 3Tier, Azure Power, Deeya Energy, Enlog LLC, the Pennsylvania Trade Office, Suniva Inc., SunPower, Team Sustain, and UTC Power.
