April 28, 2008
NEW DELHI – The U.S. Embassy in New Delhi today submitted the proposals for India’s Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft competition on behalf of Boeing and Lockheed Martin, two leading American aerospace companies. Indian Air Force planners will have an opportunity to review the capabilities of two of the world’s top two combat fighters, Boeing’s F-18 Super Hornet and Lockheed Martin’s F-16 aircraft, with the U.S. government’s support.
The United States is the world leader in state-of-the art aviation and military technologies. Boeing and Lockheed Martin have unmatched experience in the kinds of new technologies which are of growing interest and importance for the U.S.-India defense partnership.
More than 100 countries throughout the world already see American companies as their principal partners in defense and technology sales. The United States backs both Lockheed Martin and Boeing as competitors in the Indian Air Force tender, as reliable and desirable partners who can deliver the world's best technology to the world's largest democracy.
