What to bringWhat Do I Bring When I Apply For My Nonimmigrant Visa ?Please note that for security reasons, applicants are not allowed to bring sealed envelopes inside the Consulate premises. You must bring: - Passport valid for at least six more months - as of the date of entry into the U.S. Persons whose passports will expire in less than 6 months after their entry into the United states should renew their passports before applying for a visa.
- Completed and signed visa Application Form(s) DS-156 and DS-157. If applying for F,J, and M visa you should complete Form DS-158 in addition to DS-156 and DS-157
- One recent(within the past 6 months) color photograph(see below for full specifications) with a white background.
- Visa interview appointment letter.
- Original documents regarding your job, business, school or college, property, income, financial savings, tax returns and family circumstances in India to support your application for nonimmigrant status.
- HDFC Bank receipt (in duplicate) for the MRV Application Fee of Rs. 4600/-.
The photograph must measure 2 inches square (roughly 50mm) with your head centered in the frame. Your head (measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin) must measure between 1 inch and 1⅜ inch (25mm and 35mm). The photograph must be a full front view, taken facing the camera; no side or angled views are acceptable. If you wear spectacles, there must be no reflection around the eyes. Head coverings are acceptable only for religious beliefs and then only when your face is completely exposed.
