Condolence on Ambassador Abid Hussain’s Passing

The Department of State notes with sorrow the news of Ambassador Abid Hussain’s passing on June 20, 2012.
 
Ambassador Hussain served as India’s ambassador to the United States from 1990-1992.  He was an inveterate optimist about the U.S.-India relationship during a time when there were few.  His gracious style and welcoming warmth touched many Americans and built enduring friendships.  He will be remembered for his substantial contribution to the arc of U.S.-India relations.
