The American Cowboy Rides into Town with Span Magazine
January 22, 2007
NEW DELHI -- SPAN magazine opens 2007 by tipping its 10-gallon hat to the American Cowboy with a photo exhibit and lecture on "The Life of the American Cowboy" as well as a series of classic "western" movies. The programs will be held at The American Center Library, New Delhi from January 22-27.
The American cowboy is featured as the cover story for the January-February issue of SPAN magazine. Despite the interest and popularity in the cowboy around the world, the actual day-to-day life of the working cowboy is surrounded by misperceptions. The SPAN cover story and photo exhibit provide a glimpse into the real life of the American cowboy.
The photographs for the exhibit were taken by Daniel Miller, a project development officer in India with the U.S. Agency for International Development. He was raised on a dairy farm in Minnesota and spent many years working as a cowboy in Montana. All the photographs in the exhibit were taken at the Padlock Ranch in Montana from 1982 to 1986.
