                                       ONLINE SYSTEMS

The American Information Resource Centers in India are moving towards greater electronic access to information. Presently, several commercial and government online services are being used for value-added information access. Online systems are accessed at the discretion of the AIRC Director and always by a reference librarian. Some of the subscription-based online services are :

FACTIVA
Includes local and global newspapers , newswires, trade journals, news letters, magazines and transcripts covering nearly 8000 publications. Full text of The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and The Washington Post are available & EBSCO Host Web

EBSCO Host Web
Includes databases such as the MasterFile Premier covering full text for over 1,890 periodicals and abstracts and indexes for over 2,800 journals on all subjects; Business Source Elite covering fulltext of 1,060 journals including Business Week, American Banker, Forbes, Fortune, and the Economist; Health Source: Consumer Edition covering full text for over 190 journals, as well as abstracts and indexing for over 205 general health, nutrition and professional health care publications; Regional Business News provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications. It incorporates coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States.

FIRST SEARCH
First Search provides access to more than 55 databases. This powerful tool increases the availability of reference information by providing seamless access to bibliographic, abstract, and full-text information.

INFOTRAC
INFOTRAC is a one-stop shopping database for Gale Research products available on the World Wide Web. This covers Encyclopedia of Associations; Contemporary Authors; Marquis Who’s Who; Research Centers Family of Directories; Directory of Publications & Broadcast Media; Gale Directory of Databases, Gale Guide to Internet Databases; Biography & Genealogy Master Index; and Gale Business Resources. It also covers the Expanded Academic Index. From arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and technology, this database meets research needs across all academic disciplines. You can access scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers - many with full text and images.

PDQ (PUBLIC DIPLOMACY QUERY)
Accessible through the World Wide Web, PDQ provides information on international relations and foreign affairs from most publications produced by United States Department of State.

PROQUEST DIRECT
Accessible through the World Wide Web, ProQuest Direct provides immediate access to an extensive collection of newspapers, journals, periodicals, magazines, and other information sources. It provides access to over 400 full-text periodicals mostly with citations, abstracts and full-text. It also provides citations and/or abstracts of over 1600 periodicals and newspapers including New York Times.

STAT-USA
The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economics and Statistics Administration support this online information resource. It contains crucial and timely business and economic information produced by Federal agencies.
