General Information

American Citizen Services (ACS) is a unit of the Consular Section. We assist Americans abroad in a variety of ways, from replacing passports to providing emergency services to fellow citizens.

What Consular Officers Cannot Do:

Consular officers cannot act as travel agents, banks, lawyers, bodyguards, investigators or law enforcement officers. Please do not expect them to find employment, get your residence or driving permits, act as interpreters, search for missing luggage, pay your bills or settle disputes with hotel managers. They can, however, tell you how to get help on these and other matters.
