ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING

                   VISA APPLICATIONS PENDING ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING

If you were instructed to refer to the website for the current status of your case at the time of the visa interview please carefully read the instructions below.

How to check your case status
Click on the link at the bottom of the page.  The link will open a .pdf file.  Look for the barcode corresponding with the barcode on your HDFC Receipt.  The comment next to your barcode will explain the status of your case.

How to interpret the status of your case
Your case status will be one of the following.
 
(1)  RESPOND TO QUESTIONNAIRE
We are awaiting your response to the questionnaire that you were given at the interview. Processing cannot begin until we receive your response.

(2)  ELABORATE QUESTIONNAIRE
You need to provide more elaborate answers to the questionnaire.

(3) PENDING
Your case is still pending administrative processing. The Consulate cannot issue you   before completion of the processing. The Consulate cannot waive the processing, and unfortunately, we cannot provide an estimate of when the processing will be completed.

(4) SUBMIT PASSPORT AND/OR ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS
You are required to submit certain documents as listed.  If you are asked to send a travel itinerary with your passport, please attach proof that your travel plans are still valid and necessary.  In most cases, you should submit your document to the Consulate in person. Please note that the Consulate is closed on U.S. and Indian holidays.

(5) ABANDONED
Your case is considered abandoned due to your lack of response within the stipulated period.

(6) PROCESSING COMPLETED

The Consulate will contact you regarding the next step of action.

Further instructions and information for Students & Scholars
:
If you are a student applying for an F-1 visa, and the start date on your Form I-20 has elapsed then please submit a new Form I-20 with a valid reporting date (at least one week in the future) or a letter from the school specifying the latest date that you can report for the same program.

If you are an exchange visitor applying for a J-1 visa, and the start date on your Form DS-2019 has elapsed then please submit a new Form DS-2019 with a valid start date (at least one week in the future) or a letter from the sponsoring organization specifying the latest date you can report for the same program.
